INTEGER Intelligent and Green

Public / Private

INTEGER has managed to involve those from both the public and private housing sectors in a partnership that has been driving forward innovation. Public sector housing providers have been particularly keen to introduce intelligent and green technologies to their houses. However, it is interesting to note that , while many of the ideas which INTEGER has trialled have been adopted by the private sector (e.g. networked cabling), very few companies are building full-menu intelligent and green homes. For the most part it appears to be the public sector which has taken the lead in full feature innovation. Environmental sustainability is increasingly being included in planning specifications, and the more stringent building regulations which will come into force in 2005 will require all new buildings to improve that environmental performance.

Project Teams

Project teams varied for each Pilot Project. However, for the most part the project team included an INTEGER partner as client, members of the INTEGER consultant team as the design team and sometimes an INTEGER partner as contractor. Many INTEGER Partners also supplied materials to the projects involved.
