Four
Stage Process
INTEGER has developed and applied a four-stage process for achieving
innovation. Firstly, research into the future performance demands of
housing and an analysis of innovative solutions that are available to
meet these demands. Secondly, the demonstration of what can be achieved
by integrating these solutions into a well designed, well constructed
home. This demonstration is accompanied by an extensive programme of
communications and consultation, aimed at winning the hearts and minds
of the housing industry and the acceptance and support of customers.
Thirdly, the roll-out of these innovative ideas in a series of pilot
projects around the country, accompanied once more by extensive communications
and consultation. And finally, active support to the widespread adoption
and implementation of the INTEGER principles in major mainstream housing
developments.
The extensive involvement of householders, tenants and the wider community
is fundamental to INTEGER’s strategy for successful innovation.
This is exemplified by the INTEGER Education Programme, through which
children of all ages are engaging with INTEGER housing schemes, across
a wide range of subjects including design and technology, ICT, environment,
science and citizenship.
