Hong Kong:

The INTEGER Hong Kong Pavilion

The origins of INTEGER's activities in Hong Kong were set in November 1999 when Nicholas Thompson and Alan Kell were invited to speak at a seminar on intelligent buildings initiated by the British Government and hosted by the Centre of Environmental Technology in Hong Kong.

In January 2000 the British Government invited INTEGER to consider building an INTEGER demonstration flat in Hong Kong. Initially the idea was to fit out an existing empty shell in a residential block, but the idea quickly developed to construct a new apartment within an exhibition pavilion.

A partnership of founder companies was established to take the project forward. These founders included Trade Partners UK, Government of the Hong Kong SAR, CLP Power Hong Kong Limited, Gammon Skanska Limited, Hong Kong Housing Authority, Hong Kong Housing Society, INTEGER Intelligent & Green Limited, Swire Properties Limited and The Hong Kong Jockey Club. Between them, these founders raised some HK$40 million to allow construction of one of the most innovative buildings in the world to commence in January 2001.
